Freelancers have an important role to play in Pakistan’s IT industry and steps are being taken to resolve their issues as a matter of priority, Federal IT and Telecommunications Minister Syed Aminul Haque said.
Speaking at the National Freelancing Conference 2021 on Saturday, he said his ministry has set a target of $ 3 billion in export remittances for Pakistani freelancers over the next three years.
âConnectivity is important for freelancers and the IT Department is taking all possible steps to provide broadband services to unserved and underserved areas of the country,â he said.
The Minister further urged women to enter the field of freelance.
Speaking on the occasion, IT Secretary Dr Sohail Rajput said that this sector plays an important role in the economic development of a country and added that the National Self-Employment Facilitation Policy (NFFP) aims to facilitate self-employed workers.
Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) Managing Director Osman Nasir also addressed the participants.
The National Freelance Conference secured feedback from all stakeholders on the National Freelance Facilitation Policy in order to take into account the recommendations of IT sector stakeholders, which would help make Pakistan a powerhouse of the freelance economy. odd jobs.
The session was organized by PSEB to get feedback on the NFFP draft from Pakistan’s leading freelancers and associated stakeholders.
