SG best place in the world for freelancers: Tide





Meanwhile, Japan is the worst country for self-employment.

UK financial platform for businesses Tide released its Freelancer Hotspots: The Best Countries for Independent Living Report on October 7.

According to the report, Singapore took first place as the best place to work as a self-employed person in 2021, with a score of 7.35 / 10. New Zealand was second at 7.20 / 10 and Spain third at 6.53 / 10.

On the other hand, Japan took last place as the worst country for freelancers at 3.99 / 10. China and Italy followed second and third respectively.

Factors that affected the scores are speed of broadband, affordability of broadband, self-employment searches per 100,000 people, coworking spaces per 100,000 people, the strength of legal rights protecting the self-employed, the cost of living, the Happiness Index from 2017 to 2019, and the Global Gender Gap Index 2020.
