Photographers exhibit their work in Newport | Culture & Leisure

The 38th Annual Yaquina Art Association Photographers’ Show is now presented at the Yaquina Art Gallery, located at 789 NW Beach Dr., on the Nye Beach bend in Newport.

The exhibition, which will remain on display until April 29, features works by 16 members of the Yaquina Art Association Photographers. They are: Andree Devine, Dave Cook, George Meyer, Graece Gabriel, Ilene Samowitz, John Culp, John Lavrakas, Josephine Allen, Kim Cuc Tran, Mark Svendsen, Michael Carr, Sheila Ping, Sylvia A. Hosie, Ted Crego, Wallace Kaufman and Walter Duval.

YAAP’s mission is “to encourage and support members to share, teach, learn and grow as photographers”. The club offers the camaraderie of photographers and promotes education, personal growth and the enjoyment of photography.

YAAP is associated with the Yaquina Art Association and the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs. Meetings are held every first and third Monday of the month. The first meeting is usually an educational program related to photography, and the second meeting is usually dedicated to competition and critique. The group has been meeting on Zoom since the pandemic and plans to continue to do so for now
