TEHRAN – Several Iranian photographers have been honored at the 6th Mahfuz Ullah Memorial International Photography Competition in Bangladesh.
The competition was organized by the Mahfuz Ullah Memorial Foundation with contributions from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), the World Photographic Union (GPU), the Bangladeshi Photographic Society (BPS), Turkey Sille Sanat Sarayi (SSS) and Federation of Indian Photography (FIP) also stood in the four categories Monochrome, Color, Nature and Travel.
In the monochrome category, the MM Salon gold medal went to Mehdi Zabolabbasi for “Tolerance”. He also won the FIAP silver medal for “Missal”.
Shakhavan Osmani won the BPS silver medal for “Shadow of Man”, while Seyyed Ehsan Mortazavi received the FIP ribbon for “Umbrella”.
Additionally, this section’s SSS Ribbon was also awarded to Omidreza Purnabi for “Standard”.
Ali Samei’s ‘Hand’ won the FIAP bronze medal in the travel photo category and Mohammad Esteki’s ‘Move’ received the FIP ribbon in the open color photo section.
Iran had no winner in the nature category.
Vietnamese photographer Quang Vinh Dang won the FIAP blue badge for best author, the competition’s grand prize.
Additionally, Protap Shekhor Mohanto received the MM Salon Gold Medal for Best Local Author.
A selection of photos are set to be featured in an exhibition at Bisho Sahitto Kendra in Dhaka on March 18.
The Mahfuz Ullah Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Rashid Un Nabi, son of Mahfuz Ullah, an avid Bangladeshi photographer.
Rashid Un Nabi also started the contest in 2017 in memory of his beloved father, Mahfuz Ullah with the sole purpose of spreading his father’s name across the world.
Iranian photographers have always been frequent contestants and won prizes.
Ahmad Khatiri was awarded the FIP Gold Medal for his black and white photo “Prayer in War Zones” in the 5th Mahfuz Ullah Memorial International Photo Contest.
