He is a respected figure on the international film festival circuits, earning accolades as a filmmaker and serving on juries at major film festivals.
Cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Shaji N. Karun is another name that has earned respect in international film circuits. Late directors Aravindan and Pavithran had also raised the flag of Malayalam films high in the world.
However, a new generation of Malayalam directors emerged, accepted both in the international art cinema circuits and in the commercial sphere, with producers laughing to the banks, thanks to the crowds that thronged the theatres. for their movies.
Lijo Jose Palliseery is a name that has hit hard at one of the best film festivals in the world, Cannes, where his films “Jallikattu” and “Churuli” have been exhibited.
Both films were commercial successes, and the line between art and advertising is thinning.
Lijo told IANS: “Films should first and foremost have a human element and should not be overdone. I draw my films from society and that makes them beloved by audiences because every character in the film is handpicked by our l team and the spectator find a resonance with the character with a person he knows or who is dear to him.

The film, ‘Hridayam’, directed by renowned young director Vineeth Sreenivasan, son of actor, writer and director, Sreenivasan, was a resounding success. The film has Pranav Mohanlal, son of Mohanlal, playing a central role, accompanied by Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of famous director Priyadarshan.
