Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha, launched the Photography Club Dimapur website (www.PCD.org.in) here at Nagaland Coffee Shop, Dimapur on Saturday, June 18.
Speaking at the launch programme, Metha said a photograph can say a thousand words through its art using the cutting edge technology of this modern age. He advised Nagaland photographers to be ambassadors for portraying the positive aspects of Nagaland to the outside world through their photographs.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by photographers in Nagaland compared to their counterparts in neighboring states, Metha praised them for their excellent performance in India and around the world.
“Nagaland needs a positive ambassador because it has been known for too long for all the wrong reasons and he must overcome the challenges and lead Nagaland into a new future. In this regard, young minds must be the driving force” , said Meta.
Metha also advised younger generations to use social media wisely as responsible citizens.
Metha added that the photography festival they envision should become a state asset as well as state intellectual property and contribute to the emerging growth of Nagaland.
Interacting with the media, Photography Club Dimapur (PCD) President Letminthang Kipgen said the launch of the PCD websites is in line with the concept of hosting Nagaland’s first photography festival to be held on August 19-20. .
Kipgen went on to say that the photography festival was designed with the aim of putting Nagaland on the world photography map. He informed that the organization has planned to invite other photography clubs from all northeastern states for a seminar, workshop and interaction.
Kipgen further informed that the club is planning to hold a National Fashion Photography Contest online with the Federation of India Photography in partnership with TaFma in the future.
