The partnership follows Brac Bank’s launch of the country’s first independent account a week earlier, aimed at expanding opportunities for professionals in the up-and-coming gig economy.

Tanjiba Rahman, President of BFDS; Jashim Uddin Joy, Senior Vice President; Mahfuzur Rahman, Secretary General; attended the MoU signing ceremony at the bank’s head office in Dhaka on December 7 with Md Mahiul Islam of Brac Bank, Head of Retail Banking; Selim RF Hussain, Managing Director and CEO; Sarah Anam, Head of Deposits and NFB, and heads of Visa, the global leader in digital payments.

During the ceremony, the CEO of Brac Bank presented the first batch of Visa Matrix Freelancer debit cards to self-employed BFDS members.

“We believe in the talent and potential that freelancers possess and in the promise of the freelance sector,” said the CEO of Brac Bank.

“That’s why we have partnered with BFDS so that freelancers can easily benefit from banking services without any hassle and turn their passion into a fruitful business.”

Earlier on November 30 this year, Brac Bank launched the ERQ account solution called “Brac Bank Freelancer Matrix Account”. It provides great convenience for receiving foreign currency income and smooth daily transactions.

The proposal has delighted more than 650,000 independent professionals who would benefit from a hassle-free banking experience. They now get a widely accepted international Visa debit card, for the Brac Bank Freelancer Matrix account, which allows them to seamlessly receive their remittance earnings in US dollars and easily convert them to local currency (BDT) with a linked transaction account.

They will be able to conduct cross-border e-commerce, POS and ATM transactions for business purposes such as cloud-based solutions, domain hosting, etc. This account comes with the exclusive benefits of the Visa international debit card.
