Launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia, the exhibition began its world tour last June. Before being held in Chongqing, it had taken place in Minsk, Saint Petersburg, Tashkent and Chengdu.

The exhibition comprises three sections – Landscapes, Works and Faces – showing photos that capture the changes that have taken place in Italy during its development over a century in dimensions such as geography, history and art.

According to Rita Scartoni, the organizer, the exhibition presents a different type of visual narration of the history of Italy and offers the public a chance of interaction to seek unexpected correlations and illuminations.

Chongqing Library curator Ren Jing said at the opening ceremony that the exhibition will build a bridge of cultural communication between China and Italy and further enhance cooperation between the two countries.
